It has now been just over a month since I have set foot in a gym. Like does anyone get how much of a big deal that is for me?? I have been in this complete wormhole of exercise addiction, I’d forgotten what way was up. If you are unfamiliar with why I had to bring my exercise routine to a grinding halt, then I shall briefly enlighten you. About a year ago I lost my menstrual cycle, a physiological phenomenon not at all uncommon within the female fitness world. I finally reached a point where I decided that taking a break from exercise would be my best bet at getting my body back in working order, and since then I have only been doing yoga and going for light walks when I’ve had the urge to move my body. Despite everything that society has told me, everything I tell myself. My body just wanted to stop. - Now for many, this need to slow down, to pause for a minute can be applied to elements of life far beyond fitness. We are living in this age of the ‘grind’. Of working weekends, working hours far beyond 9-5. It’s no longer about these ‘It-girls’ who got famous for no reason. Today, it’s all about the self-made. Who can work the hardest? Who deserves to be successful? We wear tiredness, physical exhaustion and burnout like a badge of honour. Hell, even some female athletes take pride in losing their period, as if it is a sign they have finally reached a level of elite sportsmanship worthy of success. It’s a competition to see who is the busiest, who’s the most tired, and for the fitness fanatics, who is the most sore? We are constantly preaching about ‘balance’ ‘self-love’ and ‘self-care’ and yet we thrive in a society that romanticises exhaustion, anxiety and sleepless nights. - In reality, there is absolutely no point in working hard if you haven’t got the time to enjoy the results. There’s no point in preaching about your healthy and fit lifestyle if you just feel like crap everyday. And there’s no point in ‘hustling’ or ‘grinding’ if you despise the journey. We are so deep into this wormhole that we accept tiredness as normal. Dark under eye circles is not #fashion. Coffee is not a food group. And hunger is not an achievement. 👇🏼CONTINUED BELOW👇🏼

➡️ Little update: Currently down 8 pounds since the beginning of January when i started shredding for the wedding 👰🏻 It’s been tough i won’t lie. Being hungry is hard lol I’m hitting about 11 workouts a week because i like to split cardio and weight lifting. For cardio I’m doing mostly HIIT and maybe 1-2 sessions of steady state. Thursday i wanted to lift heavy so i worked up to 205 # for 3 X 3 sets on deadlift and worked up to 105 on bench.
